The decade started off with the Australian made convetible the Capri being exported to the USA and becoming one of the most succesful automotive exports to the USA with over 30,000 vehciles being produced in left hand drive for the US market.

Ford Capri Export

The Ford Capri was a sporty convertable based off the Laser platform.

Falcon celebrates its 30th Anniversary and the very popular KF Laser was launched. 

1990 Saw Ford Australia bring a liftback version to their mid size car the Corsair. This vehicle brought a new style of vehcile to the market being a cross between a hatch back and a wagon.  Capri got a new facelift with sporty bumpers and lights plus some safety, performance and other styling upgrades.

EB GT Falcon

The GT nameplate returned for the 25th anniversary of the legendary car.

90s Laser

Ford Probe

The Ford Probe was one of several American sourced vehicles in Ford’s lineup during the 1990’s.

Fairlane

The NF Fairlane brought new levels of luxury and style to the Ford range.

New range of heavy trucks introduced including aerodynamic LTS9000 and LTS8000 and 9000 models

AU Falcon

The GT returned for the second time in the 90’s with aggressive styling and impressive power and dynamics.

1991 saw the second model of the E series Falcon released the EB it had minor styling changes but new levels of refinement and perfomance. The V8 engine returned to Falcon after an absence of several years.  The Raider a new 4WD wagon was  introduced along with the 5 door Festiva.

Longreach Falcon Ute

The Longreach Falcon ute reinforced the Falcon Ute as a much trusted workhorse.

1992 saw the EBII Falcon, the 3.9 litre engine was replaced with a 4 litre engine and plenty of new features including ABS for the first time.  Tickford Vehicle Engineering or TVE formed a joint Venture with Ford Australia and started producing performance models of the Capri and Falcon. The first off the blocks was the turbo charged Clubsprint Capri which was closely followed by a Falcon S XR6 and a limited edition version of the GT Falcon to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of this legendary model.

AU Falcon

The polarising AU Falcon brought was an example of Ford’s Edge design.

 
1999 Saw the opening of the Ford Discovery Cente in Geelong and the small, funky KA vehicle to the market, another example of Ford’s Edge design.
